Pick up a Rick Steves France/Belgium/Netherlands guide. He has a long list of inexpensive lodging in Brugge.

Tim, do a text search on Brugges and Brugge, and Bruges. Everyone seems to spell it differently. There are some good suggestions for both expensive & inexpensive places.

Try Hotel Lucca or Hotel Dante Brugge. Both offer breakfast in the rates and are less than 200 euro for double rooms.

Ouch, 200 euros is not anybody's idea of cheap.

Go to http://www.brugge.be/verblijf/en/menlogies.htm and click on Hotels (which are arranged by price) or Bed and Breakfast. Most are linked to websites, so you can see what you are getting. There are lots of places for under 75 euros and some for under 50.

If you'll be there for a few days, you might want to consider a holiday flat - they are generally cheaper than hotels, and some are great deals! We stayed in a very luxurious and reasonably priced flat called De Drie Koningen last March and could not have asked for better accommodations or location. You can search on other flats for rent at http://www.brugge.be/verblijf/en/vakwone.htm

We stayed at Hotel't Voermanshuys last May and really enjoyed the hotel and the area. Their web address is: www.hotelbel.com/voermanshuys.htm The room was very big and I think the price was around 80 euros. This was our second stay in Brugges and we love the city. Just take the thime to walk the streets and get "lost". Have a good stay.

Hi Tim1,

I recommend Hotel Jacobs (recommended by others on this board). It's about a 10 minute walk from the main square. Two years ago a double room with bath and breakfast was 70USD. Very clean and the management friendly. They'll make recommendations for dinner in the neighborhood where the food is less expensive. Just looked at their web site - double rooms are 70E.

Here's their URL:

I asked a friend of mine who just left Brussels after 7 years where to stay for three nights in Belgium: Bruges, Antwerp or Ghent. He suggested that Bruges is worth one day at the most, and that either Antwerp or Ghent are much more interesing. We chose Ghent and found a B&B through its web page for 50€ (http://www.gent.be/gent/english/).

i would suggest you try a b&b... will cost between 50-70euro's per night.
more information on b&b can also be found under www.taxistop.be and follow the link to b&b and click on brugge/bruges !
enjoy your stay !

We stayed in a wonderful B&B just outside of GHENT in 2000. Great accomodations and a wonderful breakfast.
Only 15 minutes to Ghent, 45 min. to Bruge and 1 hour to Brussels.

A small hotel in central Brugge, 10 minute walk from train station and 10 minute walk from main square - was Hotel Ensor, web site is .hotelensor.be. March of 2002 it was about 65 euro for a double with a wonderful breakfast.
