But it really isn't in the Loire. With a month in Tours, I had plenty of time to go off the beaten track when I had a home exchange there.

The old prison in the town of loches is pretty good from what I remember. I went to school in Loches and from the top floor in every room you could see the prison along with the castle-type thing attached to it.
