Chateau d'audrieu or Bellefontaine

We will be in Normandy for 4 days at the end of May and trying to decide between these two hotels. Hotel d'Argouges is booked. Would like to hear from those who have stayed at either.

We stayed at the Château de la Bellefontaine two years ago and loved it, especially the fact that, though it was so close to the center of Bayeux we could walk to everything, at the end of the day we had complete peace and quiet with burbling stream and gorgeous rose gardens to enjoy.

Can you recommend a specific room or room size to request?

My boss stayed at the d'Audrieu a few years ago. He didn't like how isolated the hotel is -- too far to walk into Bayeux.

Lisa: We're not the type to research particular rooms - we took what they gave us, which was two enormous double rooms, side by side, with king-size beds, huge windows overlooking the garden, and large bathrooms. The furnishings were a mix of antiques and modern pieces, a bit of artwork on the walls, nothing ravishing but very pleasing, and very, very comfortable. We thought the place was a great bargain at about $80 a night per double room.
