Hi Dawn,

Gerard Boyers chateau in Reims was recently rated the best small hotel in all of Europe by Zagat's, and they are right. I did not stay there but ate there and it was truly a once in a lifetime experience. However, it is pricey.
In Burgundy we stayed at the lovely Chateau Chorey Les Beaune, 5 minutes from Beaune. It is a small 6 room chateau dating to the 13th century, each room has a private bath recently redone and a full breakfast each morning. The family that owns it also produces their own wine on the premises, so it was really nice to wake up and see the vineyards. They take you on a tour of their cellars with a tasting. It ran us about $132USD a night last September, I highly recommend it.
Also, look at the Burgundy tourism website, you can request their pamphlet of places to stay in the area. I believe it is www.burgundytourism.com.

While not a chateau, it was a former coaching inn, The Royal Champagne is a wonderful, deluxe hotel. We had a huge room, with lovely antiques, overlooking the vineyards with a balconey, a gorgeous large bathroom, and utter quiet! The food is exceptional along with the serevice. I'm always more impressed with the cooking !The can arrange tours through vineyards and caves for you.
Same with Burgundy, while this is not a chateaux it is a really lovely place,
Bernard Loiseau-La cote d'Or, in saulieu, a typical Burgundian home. And again exceptional cooking!
