Charming Nice hotels?
 

Hi, <BR> <BR>I am traveling to Nice in October. I wanted to stay in a smaller, non-business hotel, probably a high-end 3-star or 4-star hotel in the USD125-USD200 range per night for a double. Would prefer walking distance to the sea and old town. I have currently booked rooms at Hotel Le Grimaldi. Has anyone stayed there? Comments? What about the Windsor, La pelouse or the Elysee Palace? Any other suggestions? <BR> <BR>I am also open to anything just outside Nice on or near the water (as opposed to in the hills above the water). <BR> <BR>Thanks in advance.

Stayed at the La Perouse last November. Had recieved an internet special for about $100USD. It was a room in the back of the hotel (had to take three elevators to get to my room)with a little patio facing a rock and dirt wall. The room and hotel was very nice and exceptionally well located. The pool on the sixth floor overlooks the "Med" and the Promenade. I would think you could find several places meeting your criteria with a little effort on the internet.

Thanks, Blair. Did u have any problem with the noise at La Perouse? <BR> <BR>I would hope that there'd be more charming hotels in Nice, but they seem limited to the ones I've named. If some of my co-travellers were not so bent on staying in town in Nice, I'd choose to stay in St Paul de Vence, I think.

Went and looked at the Windsor for my friends and loved it. It is on the street that looks at the sea. It is not very small but the lobby is a delight. My friends loved it so much, especially their marble bathroom, that they requested the room for the following year.

hi john, <BR>i agree with minni, the "windsor" is a very lovely hotel, you will like it. You should get one of the larger rooms with the 'lightning stars' and a garden view. <BR>For breakfast you can stay at the hotel or go to one of the cafes nearby. Walking distance to the old town about 10-15 minutes, but its okay.
