Charming Balcony Hotel in Le Marais?

Hi!

We are doing a last minute 1st trip to Paris next week (more time is always better of course, but can't really complain!) and would like any hotel tips in or near Le Marais.

We are looking for a charming luxury room that's light - filled. I really want to find something with huge French windows that open onto a little balcony where we can have breakfast on the table overlooking a charming Paris rooftops view.

Ideally we would love to stay in Le Marais district and wanted to ask if anyone has any good tips or hidden treasures since this is last minute and the usual things may be booked! We don't need the hotel to have tonnes of amenities, but would like to be able to order room service on a balcony.

I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

You aren't going to find that hardly in any hotel in Paris, but there aren't very many hotels in the Marais on top of that. There aren't any luxury hotels in the Marais that I know of except the Pavillon de la Reine. I don't think it has any rooms with balconies you can walk on, but you can check. Hotels that do have balconies have ones that generally you cannot even stand on, let alone eat breakfast on (they are called Juliet balconies sometimes, often just room for a few potted plants).

But okay, I do know of one in the Latin Qtr that has a room with a terrace where you can do that. here it is

Great research Christina. I am bookmarking the second hotel. Thank you!

With the large premium you will be paying for that balcony, just pray it doesn't rain!

Macross Jun 26th, 2017 01:55 PM

nukesafe, my 125.00 a night apartment in the 14th has a lovely balcony but playing along here.

You are right, Macross, we should not clutter up people's fantasies with uncomfortable practicalities.

BTW, your apartment sounds great!

Hi kuniku,

I like the Marais as well, and one of my criterion is to have a room with a view, so I have a small list (though I favor 3-star hotels). Here are some options for you --

Hotel Paris Rivoli, 3 star, double superior rooms have a balcony over the rooftops of Paris (you can see pictures). It is at 19 rue Rivoli.
http://hotel-parisrivoli.com/

Hotel Emile, 3 star. Their suite has "spectacular views over the rooftops of Paris." I couldn't find pictures, and it doesn't say there are balconies. It is on rue Mahler. The design is rather modern.

Not in the Marais:
Hotel de Suede, 7th. Some of their standard rooms have a view over the Matignon garden, but I couldn't find pictures, and it doesn't say there are balconies.

Hotel de la Place du Louvre, 1st. Their standard rooms have views over Perrault's Colonnade of the Louvre, and their duplex has views over a church as well as the Colonnade. You can see pictures at their website. But no balconies.

Have fun as you plan!

This hotel, https://www.carondebeaumarchais.com/, is not my style but some rooms do have small balconies. You can also try https://www.paris-france-hotel.com/. It's not fancy but I think some of the rooms have balconies.

macross, that hotel in St Germain did look cute, I wasn't aware it had a balcony like that. Those are very rare.

me, not a fan of sitting on a balcony overlooking a street and fending off pigeons, give me a terrass cafe any day to have coffee.

StCirq Jun 27th, 2017 08:48 AM

A balcony is just a fantasy, like many that tourists to Paris have - the pain chocolat and café crème overlooking the rooftops of the city. Pffff. It's possible to have a balcony, even an entire little garden, in Paris, but it sure wouldn't be in the Marais. It would be in a part of Paris that tourists wouldn't normally set foot in.

Thanks everyone!
It's true it's tough to find a balcony in Paris, that's why I wanted to poll those more experienced than me on this site :)

Thanks for your tips - we were able to find a cute little boutique option with a lovely terrace view near Le Marais. There are actually some nice options spread across the city that don't charge a premium for a balcony. Yes, very hard to find - takes digging (which is why I thought why not ask a forum for insider tips) - but I certainly don't want to dissuade anyone who's got their heart set on it!! It can be done and it doesn't have to be just the $$$$ Shangri La :).

Not sure why such snarky comments below about rain etc...

Thank you for your consideration @nukesafe - I certainly never like to have travel fantasies cluttered by uncomfortable practicalities. Who does??? Travel is fantasy, we seek the best our heart yearns for and then enjoy what we can feasibly do, which can also be fantastic and fantasy-filled too if we want it to be. I mean...travel isn't a chore lol. We travel to be delighted, not worry about pigeons...! LOL. In either case I will pack an umbrella but hope for the best :)

Thank you, fuzzbucket. You said it better, or at least less harshly, than I could have.

kuniku Jun 28th, 2017 12:28 PM

@fuzzbucket
What a strange comment you've taken the time to leave! Again what's with all the assuming, spreading false info, then snarkiness??

I didn't report anything as abusive on this entire site lol. I just cut and pasted the 3 comments and it looks like the "report abuse" lines were included just like below (disclaimer - I didn't report you haha but damn your comment that I can't handle simple conversation is pretty rude and I didn't think it was necessary for a travel forum, I have to say! Calm down!)

..! LOL. In either case I will pack an umbrella but hope for the best :)

I don' t think it was nécessary to report those 3 comments as abusive.

If you can't handle simple conversation you should do your own research.

scunnychu Jun 28th, 2017 01:37 PM

Wow this forum. Everyone needs to chill out.

My findings - everyone is different and for me travel is best when its spontaneous and mostly unplanned. The process of discovery in a new and foreign place is the most fun part.

To the poster - ignore the negativity and I hope that some of us can positively contribute to your experience. Glad you found your room, be sure to do a trip report when you get back.

scunnychu Jun 28th, 2017 01:57 PM

Also I'm new to this forum because I'm planning a trip myself, but some common human decency would go a long way around here. Telling newcomers to essentially f* off and "use Google" is poor form, especially when the inquiry is innocent enough.

If you can help, comment. Else no one needs your vitriol.

tuscanlifeedit Jun 28th, 2017 02:45 PM

ah, scunny,

Sometimes we're a tough crowd, but so many people here do so much to help others with trip planning that one learns to tolerate us.

But really, no one said ____ off, and some Fodorites made some very good suggestions.

Welcome and try us. You may get some wonderful help here.

Kathie Jun 28th, 2017 02:58 PM

Note that if you copy and paste a series of responses, the site automatically includes what the orange triangle means: "report abuse." It doesn't mean that the poster reported any of the comments as abusive.

kuniku, would you mind sharing the name of the place that you did find? Several folks here were kind enough to do research and make suggestions in response to your query. Your 'find' might be helpful to future travelers.
