Gretchen - quite still a possibility! We just have a cruise departure we have to be in Venice for on time, and some "bucket list" stops along the way. I had been thinking it made sense to end in Paris for the return flight home, but you're right it might make more sense to start there and save the hassle for the end of the trip!

apersuader65 - very true. They like to be mildly "in the know," enough to know they'll be taken care of or at the very least not stranded. I don't remember what it's like to be in a country where I don't speak the language or know the culture or anything like that...they set me up to be world-traveled before I left high school and just didn't do the same for themselves...so I'm trying to see it all from their perspective too. Enough information to be comfortable, but not so little to be terrified. And honestly if I'd never been anywhere or seen anything different than what I know, I'd be nervous too!! Their health issues complicates things a bit, but I'm ready to take on the challenge to allow them some adventure before they can't any longer!! I don't really need "seamless" so much as "well-flowed" I suppose. HA! You know, at least a plan...hail a cab from CDG, train from wherever, yadda yadda.

kerouac - HA! Yeah we're all real good natured and flexible, I just want it to be a nice trip for them. I can't remember the last time we complained about something, but mostly because I try not to set us up for failure ahead of time. Hence...message boards and you fine folks!

No, ending the trip there is equally as good in my estimation as it is VERY easy for you to ask your hotel to call you a taxi the morning of departure to go to CDG. PLEASE do this--on both ends.
Don't pay Kerouac any mind on things like that. Other things he can be very helpful with. 'o)

> We saved thousands of dollars in airfare flying roundtrip CDG .. rather than a too expensive multi-city flight.

This has an appearance that you have looked at two one-way flights rather using the real "multi-city" option on the booking engine. The difference between round trip and real "multi-city" options are either none or several hundred dollars in case of round-trip route the carriers want to fill, but not usually "thousands of dollars" unless you are coming from countries such as from the Middle-East where multi-city options don't offer as much benefits as those coming from the U.S.

Of course, I presume you already have the tickets, so this is no longer relevant for your trip.

Greg, when we booked, we were looking at a 4-city flight, and the cost difference was nearly $4,000 higher than roundtrip CDG for the 4 international business class tickets direct through platinum delta. We ended up using mileage upgrades for the tickets but we never looked at one-way flights.
