Charles de Gaulle Connection - 1 hour

Hi - have a flight from Dublin to CDG with ongoing flight to Rio.
My flight from Dublin to CDG arrives in 2E and the Rio flight leaves from 2E also.
Connection time is exactly 1 hour.
Am I right in thinking that as the terminal is the same that assuming my first flight is not late that I should be ok.
I won't have to go through passport control or security? - should just be able to go to next gate?
I'm aware that luggage may be an issue due to time but can manage that being a day late or so at worst.

If this is a single ticket you will be fine - even if you don't make the flight for some reason they will put you on the next one. If these are two separate tickets I would not be at all comfortable with an hour - since if you don;t make the second flight you wold be a no show and would have to buy a new ticket at the walk up rate.

(Yes, an hour seems like it should be enough - but if your incoming flight is late for any reason, especially if you are seated at the back of the plane, you would have to make a dash for it. I'm not sure when they stop loading planes fo ryou flight - but it is often 20 minutes at least before departure time.)

I was in 2E just last week, and on crutches. It's a fairly long hall with a bunch of gates, but if I'd been able-bodied I'd have been able to make it from one end to the other in under 5 minutes. Also, my plane delayed departure by almost an hour to wait for another incoming flight to the same hall. I think you'll be fine.

Did this before with 45 min between flights on same airline (AF) and airport hall. No problems - even my luggage made it! FWIW I much prefer CDG to Heathrow which, at least to me, is a nightmare as I had several instances of "high stress" situations. Give me CDG over Heathrow anyday.

You won't have to go through passport control but will have to go through security. Flights from Dublin are operated on an Avro regional jet and will not get a jetway. You'll instead be bused to the main part of 2E aka K gates. Depending on what part of 2E your Rio flight departs from, you may need to take a quick train to the L or M gates. 2E is actually 3 separate halls connected by train divided into K, L and M gates. The one thing that slows you down is the busing on arrival, but one hour should still be enough to make it.

There is absolutely no guarantee that anyone can make a 60 minute connection, through any airport in the world, on any consistent basis. Some will make it, others will not. There are just too many variables which can delay you: weather, mechanicals, crew work limitations, or unforeseen traffic among others.

I should point out that if you do miss the connection, your airline will put you on the next available flight which may or may not be the next scheduled flight.

That's a tight connection, even arriving on a small plane, so be prepared with toothbrush, underwear change etc. in your carry-on. Just because you make it aboard the next airliner, you luggage may be left behind -- a factor usually ignored in these discussions. On two unhappy occasions, one of them at CdG, I took a checked bag through the Customs process and rechecked right there, and although I caught the next plane after a dash, I waited all alone and in vain beside the final luggage carousel. It was routine to retrieve the tardy bag (airline personnel have lots of practice, despite the nonsense about "legal" tranfer times) but it was still frustrating.
