Charles de Gaulle Airport Terminal Connection
Hi everyone. We are connecting from NY in Paris to get to Naples. We arrive in Terminal 2E and leave out of Terminal 2F at CDG. Is it a very long walk and/or do i have to take a shuttle? We will not be checking luggage.
Thank you. |

Don't you have to clear immigration before going to 2F?

So I actually just posted with a similar question (I'm connecting at CDG on my way to Barcelona) and it sounds like it will depend on what gate you arrive at w/in the 2E terminal - If you arrive at Gate K, you can walk from there to Terminal 2F; if you are at Gates L or M, you'll have to take the transit shuttle and then walk. Once you're walking, you just follow the yellow "transit" signs and it's not a long walk to 2F...BUT you likely will have to go through immigration/passport check and security, which can take awhile. The airport recommends 90 minutes between connecting flights at least.

Through the website link above you can print a pdf with illustration and/or a map. Handy to have when you land and are jet lagged.

All the replies are spot on. CDG is an awful airport, and the walk is long and zombifying. The most important thing to do after you get off the plane is find the very first connection departure board that will list your specific connecting gate, just to make sure it is still 2E, and if so what gate number. Unless your memory is a steel trap, write it down, because after an overnight flight it can be easy to forget. Then very carefully follow the signs with arrows pointing different directions to make sure you are on track to the correct terminal (e.g., 2E). First you go through security again, where there can be queues, where you have to show your onward boarding pass, so have it available. Then another long walk toward immigration, where you show your passport. Then finally you get your passport stamped and can finally exit to the equally ugly and impersonal departure terminal.

connecting from E to F looks like a "online connection ", ie sold by Air France or a close partner (like Delta) involving 2 flights operated by one of these airlines. The policy is to sell such connections only if there is a minimum of 60 mns between scheduled arrival and onward departing flight. 60 mns is set to cover for transfer time in the worst case (could be EM to F) and average delays. Of course, it doesn't say that 100% of connections will work but 98% will be OK. My advice would be: if you don't feel comfortable, just ask the cabin crew on board or ground staff on arrival. CDG improved a lot in terms of customer service and signage. But it is still a big airport. And connecting is always a complex process as it depends on many factors. |

I don't think "the airport " would issue any recommendation for the minimum connecting time.
The MCT's determined by the airport also depend on whether you need to transfer terminals (or airports!) so they can get really labyrinthine, with the multiple airports in London having a total of 134 different MCT's including inter-airport transfer. |
Thanks all for the information. Stress is part of the game I know! It looks like from the print out that if you are going to K or L gates it is a walk and M is a shuttle. I was told something about a purple shuttle. We have 2 hours and 30 minutes so with no delays I would hope we will be okay. I do know that travel is extraordinarily high in Europe but will hope for the best.
