Charles de Gaulle Airport
I arrive at CDG from Italy via air france at terminal 2D and have 1hr to get to terminal 2E to catch a delta flight. This was one booking ticket. Am I going to make it?

The Delta flight is to the USA

Hi Carol,
I am very leery of less than 90 min connections at CDG. The terminals are close to each other, but your plane might land somewhere in the boonies and you will have to shuttle to 2D. You probably won't have passport control, but you will have to go through security. I think that you have about an 80% chance of making the connection. Your checked baggage has a 50% chance. Since you are ticketed through, you will get home. ((I)) |
maybe yes - maybe no. But since it is one booking the worst that might happen is you get a day/night in Paris.
CDG can be a zoo. No way to tell if it is going to be a zoo the day you are flying through. So don't fret - there is nothing you can do about it anyway. If you make it great, and if not they will get you home. |
We did this last year. One hour is really not enough. The terminals are close and should be an easy connection. Now come the BUTs:
They couldn't issue our boarding passes in Rome for the Paris - Atlanta flight; so on arrival at 2E we had to go to check in and get boarding passes. Then you go through security. There was a long wait. I made it through with no problems but my partner was practically strip searched. An extremely long walk from security to the boarding gate. As best as we recall the whole process took about an hour. My bags made it home with me. My partners arrived the next day. If you already have the tickets there's nothing you can do. I wont say I will never change planes at CDG again; but I will certainly think twice before doing so. BTW the original ticketing option was for a 45 minute change. Air France assured me that this would be no problem. I changed to a different flight with a 2 hour window. Glad I did. |
Also, do I take a shuttle from 2D to 2E or is it possible to walk faster?
|
Walk.
|
BTW, you definitely have to go through passport control to exit Schengen.
Also, I've read that if you're taking AF-AF, they often will have someone greet you at the door of your arrival if it's running late, because they don't want to strand you in Paris. But I've not heard of DL agent coming to get you. |
Ditto RK

You can walk from 2D to the main terminal area of 2E but Delta flights depart from the remote boarding area (E80s gates) which are located a 15 min shuttle ride from 2E.
|
Also, beware: if an airline CAN over sell a flight, they will. If everyone shows up for the flight, the last to arrive will be bumped. We arrived 2 hours early for our flight back to the USA and were sidelined for 1/2 an hour until it was determined that we could board. Our traveling companions were bumped!
As others have said, CDG is a zoo! If I ever have to pass thru there again, I'll give myself at least 3 hours of time. Good luck! |
Now, I'M worried! We arrive at CDG from Houston at 8:45 a.m. at Terminal 2E and depart for Rome from Terminal 2F at 9:45 a.m. Will we make it?? We are to meet friends in the Rome airport and I would hate to make them wait for us!!

Only one hour at CDG is hard to make. That being said if it is all one booking and you miss the flight they will put you on another flight to your destination. If you are lucky it will be the next day and you will get a lovely day in Paris. I would not worry about it if it is already booked and can't be changed as it is now out of your control. Relax and take it all in stride, it is all part of the travel experience. Have fun.
