Charles Bridge Webcam

Aggiegirl gave the link to this webcam a few weeks ago when I had posted a message asking if the Charles Bridge was closed. (I had read that it was to be closed for repairs.) I have loved checking it out at least once daily to see how crowded it is, to check on the weather and just dream of being there in less than a month. I have enjoyed it so much that I am reposting it for those who are planning a trip to Prague and missed Aggiegirl's post. By the way does anyone know of other webcams in popular tourist locations?

Does anyone know when/if the bridge is to close? I'll be going in April.

Thanks for the repost of the link. I had missed it the first time!

Thanks for posting tomatogal.

Poutine - I have heard that they plan to start construction once the tourist season ends this year - I'm thinking that means after September. I haven't been able to find out anything else - it seems like they've been pushing it back for quite some time now.

Take a look at the following. According to it, the bridge will never be completely closed (expect for the Louis Vuitton commercial shooting). I hope it will not look too ugly. Iwill be there in mid November.

Hi Tomatogal,
I'm glad you have enjoyed looking at the bridge webcam. Leading up to my trip, I was addicted to checking it out first thing in the morning, midday and then evening. I still look at it now and then.

There was a webcam in Vienna I used as well, will have to look it up for anybody who may be interested.

Thanks for posting this again Tomatogal and Aggiegirl for posting it originally. Just out of curiosity, may I ask when you are visiting Prague? I'm going to be be there in less than a month, also.

tomatogal Aug 27th, 2006 06:36 PM

Poohgirl, I'm afraid our trip to Prague will be rather short. It is the first stop on a month tour of Eastern Europe. We will arrive Friday, September 22 and depart Sunday night (September 25) around 9pm on a train to Krakow. Most of our time in Eastern Europe will be spent traveling in Slovenia and Croatia by car. When will you be there?

The bridge refurbishment has been pushed out until spring 2007.

tomatogal Aug 28th, 2006 05:26 AM

I'm happy to hear that.

Sample of some webcams:

Pick a country, then a city, then a location.

or http://www.webworldcam.com/

Some may not work all the time. I use it to check if it rains and track my son's trip for the pass 2 months!

Hi Tomatogal - I'll be there and gone by the time you get there. I'm in Prague Sept 5-14.
Your trip sounds great - I hope you have a wonderful time.
