changing trains in edinburgh
How difficult is it to change trains in edinburh waverly station? When there is only 4-6 mins to make the connection. Help
|
I wouldn't rely on changing trains anywhere in Britain with 4-6 minutes to spare.
What is your actual journey? If your onward trains are frequent, then there's no problem and you can catch the next one. If your onward train is not frequent, get an earlier train to Edinburgh. |
thanks, It is actually 20 mins between trains. Are the departure tracks far apart in Edinburgh Waverly station?
|
It is a large station, however, if you don't have tons of luggage to haul around you should be fine.
|
UK trains don't tend to run right on schedule as many do on the Continent. Your train into to Edinburgh could easily be 15, 20 mins - or an hour - late.
|
Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station is not that large and to get some idea as to layout have a look at www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/807.aspx#access
As janisj mentions the main problem will arise if the train is late in arriving. The same website should also give you information as to late trains and you can see if the route you intend taking is liable to poor time keeping. |
You get off the train, follow the crowd, spot WH Smiths and look at the very big board with all the train times or the small screens mounted everywhere
If you are lucky then your onward train will be late How about tell us where you are going and where you are coming |
Generally- and you cannot rely on this without checking at the time- the York train will come in at platform 19, and the Inverness train will depart from platform 11.
It will take you at most 5 minutes to walk between the 2. http://www.networkrail.co.uk/documen...tion%20Map.pdf |
