changing train stations in Paris
We are taking the Eurostar from London to Avignon. We have change train stations from Paris Nord to Paris Gare De Lyon. Should we take the Metro or walk?
It is a little over a two and a half mile walk (40-45 minutes), or an 8 minute ride the RER D.
Hi er,
You are taking the Eurostar from London to Paris. You are taking a SNCF TGV to Avignon. :) www.ratp.fr will give you directions by public transportation. Enjoy your visit. ((I)) |
Well it's a 3 mile walk, and if you have any luggage to speak of I wouldn't do it. I would take a taxi or an RER-D train bewteen the two stations. If you used the metro you'd have to change lines to travel between the two stations.

Do youself a favour- take a taxi. If you've not been to Gare de Lyon before, it will take you some time to get your bearings. If you are going to Avignon, I presume you will be leaving from the lower level from the main station(salle Meditranee-excuse my spelling). Give yourself time to figure it out.

I came in on the TGV from Avignon to Gare de Lyon and it arrived in the main hall on the street level. Does it rally depart from a lower level?
That's "really"
Yes, we are going to Avignon. When we booked our tickets online, did they already give us seat assignments for both the Eurostar and TGV or do I have to go back online and reserve seats?
Doesn't your documentation tell you a seat number? Every TGV ticket I've ever purchased did, because it is included in the price, you can't buy one without reserving a seat.
Okay, great. I haven't picked up the tickets yet, just got the e-mail confirmation to bring to the station.
For others you can change at Lille-Europa to TGV trains to Avignon - not even going via Paris proper and not having the hassle of changing train stations in Paris.
