Ditto on the AA website -- very nice indeed

We also had a good experience with NW phone agent recently. We needed seats going and back -- particularly back as we have a quick change at Schipol -- and we bought the tix from a Balkan travel agent [great rates to Skopje]who didn't do that part -- my husband called -- the agent couldn't have been nicer.

andy,
Not the gate agent, but rather the stewardess. I've flown via KLM, USAirways, and Delta transatlantic. Everytime I make nice with the stewardesses and offer them a $50 or $100 bill. I've always gotten upgraded. Try it...It never hurts to ask.

The airlines alot a certain number of seats to their 800 reservations, their online site, the discounters, and at the airport.

I've tried booking online only to find there was 1 seat available (when I needed 2), and when I contacted 800 reservations they had loads more and advised the the airport still has others.

As to flying 2-by-2, you probably have the right or left side of a double aisle wide body on your international flight - guess you just have to keep on them till you get what you need.

Enjoy your holiday.
