changing Planes @ Franfurt Airport

I will be arriving from the US on a UA flight. Need to connect to a Lufthansa flight to Italy. I've been looking at arrival gates and they seem to change. Any help making a quick as possible transfer? Is immigration generally crowded? Will we need to go thru security after going thru immigration? Any advice is appreciated.

You will need to go through security when changing planes. I don't remember passport control as taking more than a couple of minutes. How much time do you have to transfer?

I have had the same experience as Adrienne at FRA. Longer lines at security than at passport control.

I always try to allow at least 2 hours when changing planes at FRA.

One hour and half is all we have. We originally had a bit longer but one of the flights got changed.. The Frankfurt Airport website says if your plane departs in less than 30 minites they have a special line to go thru. I've only transferred at Frankfurt a couple time and I only remeber it being big. Guess I'll plan on a sprint thru the airport which is always such fun after an overnight flight.

I'm with u Simpsonc, I like two hours to make a connection even though it's rarely taken more than an hour.

Not my favorite place to catch connecting flight, too big, too busy, long lines, then I have stand in line to get a boarding pass. United can't issue boarding passes. This has been my experience. I also have not been able to turn in my VAT forms, because there is usually not enough time.

Other than that not bad at all.

Sounds lovely! Can u get your boarding pass at the gate?

Depends on what time of day you are arriving, too

Are you on a codeshare flight with United? I have never had an issue getting my Lufthansa boarding passes with seat assignments when I check in online with United.

Update-UA did issue the boarding pass for the Luthsana connecting flight. They also give u information on changing planes. It was all quite straightforward and quick. We arrived at the Z or maybe it was V gates. went to a booth were he looked at our signed passports and waved us on. then we had about a ten minute walk to our departure gate, A34. We got there within 15 minutes of deplaning the incoming UA flight. we did NOT go thru security. Signage was very good. So at least if you're changing on UA to Luthsana, it's easypeasy. Thanks to all for your insights.
