Changing of the Guard

I am trying to plan our itinerary for London and have read that in August that changing of the guard is every other day. The problem is that there is no information on what days that happens. Is it odds or evens, or certain days of the week? Does anyone know for sure?? Also looking for best ideas about where to see this event!
Thanks

No word on which date in August it starts, though.

I will recommend against it. It is a crazy crowded event. To properly see, you need to be there about an hour in advance.

Other options:

Changing of the Horse Guards - daily

going to Windsor?
see the Changing of the Guards there.

I live in London and have never seen the changing of the guard. Can't see what all the fuss is about.

We did this through the 'Hop on Hop off' double decker Red bus tour company. You do not need to book the bus tour, simply go to their office located near Trafalgar Square and book their 'walking tour'. We enjoyed the walk and the insights of the tour guide. She took us up the Mall to St. James Palace and this is where the Changing of the Guards actually begins. We had an amazing front row view and then walked/marched with the guards down The Mall towards Buckingham Palace. At the palace we marched left to where the Changing of the Guards continued.
Not many people realize that the actual changing begins at St. James Palace. Don't tell too many people as that area may get busier.
Good luck
