changing money

Where is the best exchange rate? Should I change some here before I go? where should I do that

Just go to the ATM at the airport when you land to get your money-its the easiest, cheapest way to get foreign currency. There are SO many threads on this topic so check the "search the forums" box above to read everyone's opinions.

It is totally ridiculous to get money from your bank or wire money with all the extra expense before you go.
I work for the airlines and travel all over the world and have never had a problem getting money from ATM's.

We have on hand before we go about the equivalent of $400 Canadian between us, including coins from previous trips. Then we get cash as we go from ATM's.

The cheapest and easiest way to pay when traveling in europe is to pay for as much as possible with credit cards and use your ATM card to pull cash from your checking account at the machine in front of any bank (or a gazillion other places).

If you must have some foreign currency when you arrive change about $100 at the bureau de change in your departure airport. the rate will be awful but for so little it doesn't matter,
