Change tickets?!
This may be a dumb question for seasoned travelers, but I will forge ahead. We bought tickets on Air France from JFK to Rome via CDG airport. After purchasing the tickets we finalized our travel plans and it would be much more convenient to fly into Naples and out of Florence. Is it possible to change our tickets to this with just the ticket change fee or would we have to start over again. In which case we would stick with JFK - Rome. I would like advice from you all before I call and incur the hysterical laughter from Air France with this request! :o) Thanks!

There's usually a boatload of very teeny print about this topic included with a paper ticket or an e-ticket. Have you looked at your ticket?

Hi rbn,
> Is it possible to change our tickets to this with just the ticket change fee or would we have to start over again?< It depends on the ticket you purchased. If you bought your tickets from AF, call them. ((I)) |
My husband and I bought tickets a few months ago, on Northwest and purchased through Expedia, for a r/t to Nuremberg this May. We decided a few weeks after I booked them that we wanted to extent the dates by just 1 or 2 days so I called and asked customer service and was told that it would be an extra $600 on top of the airfare to chancel the tickets and create new ones. Needless to say no changes were made. I just wanted to share my experience. Air France may or may not be that expensive or strict, but I would just call and ask.

Do you know that Air France services both Naples and Florence??
That might be one place to start (find out what exactly the ticket you wished you had purchased would be - availability, time, cost, etc.). |
Wow. I had no idea you could find your replies by clicking on your name! Thanks sooo much.

I think it is very common that with non-refundable tickets, they charge a sizeable change fee, and your new tickets will be at the currently available rate, so if the fare today is higher than when it was when you bought the tickets, you pay the higher fare plus the change fee. Of course, it is possible that today's fare is lower, too.
If you are very very lucky, they may have changed something about your flight (once they changed my return flight from 0730 to 1330) and in that case you can get a full refund. Calling them can't hurt. |
