Change of plans in Basque Country, what do you think?

Sorry if I'm being repetitive, but DH and I are thinking of tweaking our itinerary a bit. Due to the suggestions of wonderful Fodorites, we are skipping Bordeaux to see Bilbao instead during our trip to Hossegor for the Quiksilver Pro.
We are currently booked for 7 nights in Hossegor and I would like to mix things up a bit be staying in San Sebastian for 2 nights toward the tail end of our trip. Where do you recommend we stay? I would like to stay somewhere near the Parte Vieja so we can hop for pintxos in the evening without driving. Any suggestions? thanks!

runlong, what type of hotel are you looking for? Also just so you are aware it it very easy to walk to Parte Vieja from most of the main parts of the city.

We're just looking for something clean, convenient to Parte Vieja and around 100 euro a night, not much more. I read about Hotel Niza.

We stayed at Hostel Alemana which is about 1 mile from the old part, one block off the Concha. It is a hostel in name only, small room with a double bed, refrig, small bath, good shower....

Most hotels in San Sebastian are within walking distance to the "Parte Vieja", but anyways the closest should be: Pension Aldamar (www.pensionaldamar.com), and hotel Parma (www.hotelparma.com), both are new, clean and right in the Parte Vieja for less than 100 euros.

There are many Pensiones in the old town, but think this two are much better!.

I live in San Sebastian, so if you need more info just let me know.
