change of boarding airport

just another querry regarding my return, I was trying to check with the austrian airlines.
Actually I have a return ticket from Venice to Mumbai with a stopover at vienna.
So suppose I don't board the flight in venice and inform them I would be boarding from Vienna directly , would it be ok.
Has someone done this before.

I would contact Austrian Air regarding this situation.
Most times - you would be considered a " No Show " in Venice and your onward flight status from Vienna- Mumbai would be cancelled by the airline.

99.999999% of the time as soon as you miss one flight, the remainder of your flights will be cancelled. You need to contact the airline and probably pay for the change

In many instances I have found flights starting in Italy and then catching the intercontinental flight in London, Paris, Zurich, Frankfurt, Vienna etc are frequently way cheaper than buying the intercontinental flight alone. The cost of the change could be quite substantial.

Your ticket will probably be canceled if you miss the first leg. If you want to change your flight in advance, you will have to pay a rebooking fee (most airlines is $250 for international) and the difference in price. If you bought a ticket on sale, you will have to pay the current ticket price difference.

I checked with them , if I rebook there is hefty price to it around 200 euro per head.
Any other solutions possible other than rebooking.

No - you now have only two choices:

1) Board your flight in Venice
2) Pay the 200€ per person to re-book the flight

You may be able to find a solution with your regular travel agent if you are a good client but for Euro 200?
This seems a relatively small price to pay if it is convenient for you to be in Vienna on your departure date rather than Venice.
