Change in Turkish Visa Process
 

My new issue of International Travel News has a short note that effective April 14, 2014 Turkish visas will NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE AT THE AIRPORT OR AT BORDER CHECKPOINTS. It states that Turkey is going to an on-line application and payment process and will dispense "e-visas." The visa is e-mailed and the recipient must print the visa to show Immigration and Customs officials and carry it while in Turkey.

I didn't realize the change was occurring so thought I would post this in case others didn't know either. Will post on a couple of the other forums too.

Thanks for this link. That is how we obtained our Cambodian visas and then stapled them into our passports.

Interesting. I got my visa at the airport the beginning of May.

Greenway, they are still sporadically issuing visas on arrival, but it is better not to risk being turned away and to just get the eVisa.
DH applied for his at very short notice for a work trip to Istanbul and found it an easy thing to do.
He had a hard copy with him just in case, but didn't need it.

That's not what the E-visa site says.

In its FAQ (https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/info/) it says:
" If you are a citizen of one of the countries listed below and you meet the required criteria, you can obtain a visa on arrival."

It then lists a rather odd group of countries, including the US, UK, Canada and a number of Schengen countries (but not France or Germany) as remaining eligible for border visas.

Maybe it's wrong. But it's what the Turkish government says.
