Champs Elysses hours?
 

what time does most of the shops close on the Champs Elysses? We will be there in March- if that makes a difference. What about the restaurants? Is it very safe late at night for 2 ladies? Are there taxi stands around that would take us back to our hotel near the Eiffel Tower?

I have found it useful to ask the restaurant to call a cab for me. There is an extra charge, but you get your cab.

Most shops everywhere in Paris close around 7 pm. I imagine that would apply to the ones on the Champs Elysées as well, though personally I don't find that an interesting place to shop at all.
In most parts of Paris it is extremely safe to be out late at night. I'd avoid the major métro stops like Chatelet and Opera that have huge underground areas, but apart from that and Pigalle and maybe the Gare du Nord, Paris feels a lot safer to me at night than, say, Washington, DC, does.

No one has asked me to do this, but if someone did ask me to name streets I am familiar with that should be avoided for shopping, I would name the Champs Elysees, Rue de Rivoli, Broadway within 10 blocks of Times Square, and
the streets immediately surrounding Covent Garden, to start off with.
Ditto the restaurants.

I don't think the Champs-Elysees is so bad if you are looking for that kind of shopping. It is a lot of brand and chain stores, French or other, but it is convenient as there are a lot of them. A lot of the same names people suggest for shopping in other posts are on there. It wouldn't be the place for small, individual shops or unusual items, antiques, books, thinks like that.

I'm not a big shopper, but I have been in the Virgin records store, Sephora, Zara and Monoprix on the Champs. I think a lot of those stores do stay open later than 7 pm. Sephora is open until midnight, for example. there are a lot of the French well-known stores on there: Lacoste, Guerlain, Nafnaf, Natalys, Sephora, Vuitton, etc., as well as the few I mentioned. Of course, you can find a Monoprix anywhere, that's not special, it was just convenient for me to pick up soap or cosmetics or something I needed like that.

If you don't have a restaurant call a taxi, you won't need to worry as there are several taxi stands along there. There are several on all sides of the Arc de Triomphe, and one at the side of Air France, one at ave George V, and one near Virgin records.
