Champagne region
Hi,
Where would you recommend to stay one night in the Champagne region? We are doing a 2-day self guided car tour and would like to get your recommendations! Thanks a million! Cassie |
If you prefer to stay in the countryside I recommend Chateau d'Etoges. Beautiful rooms, gorgous park, excellent food, good location to visit the region. I also recomend the tour to Launois - it is a middle-sized, not so industrialized winery with a wonderful champagne museum

We stayed right outside Reims in 2002 at this place:
http://www.assiettechampenoise.com/presentation_va.htm There are lots of Champagne cellars in Reims. We liked Piper-Heidseck's tour. ((b)) |
We're going in October and staying at La Villa Eugene in Epernay. www.villa-eugene.com

Remis it has to be. Its history can be traced back to the Roman Empire. Reims it was the place where the kings of France were crowned, it has many links with Jan of Arc. The cathedral was used for the coronation of French kings.
It is a beautiful Cathedral steep in french history, Remis has many nice resturants and while I styaed there for a 2 night break we also went to the Mumm champagne caves and did the tour. |
We very much liked the Château de Fère, near the picturesque small town of Fère-en-Tardenois. Reims is about 30 minutes away, and the countryside is filled with sunflowers and even windmills.
