Champagne or Loire Valley?

Which region would you suggest as an excursion out of Paris? Which town would you recommend within that region? How long a drive should we expect?

Many thanks in advance.
well, Blois is a good base. Maybe 2 hours drive? it all depends on how easy it is for you to get out of Paris! Chenonceau and Chambord are nearby.

It took me three hours to get from Chinon to Paris (maybe an hour or so southwest of Blois) but when I arrived in Paris it was well past rush hour -not as bad to get to the airport.

Chinon is also a nice base. It is close to Villandry and Azay-le-Rideau.

don't know what to tell you about Champagne area. that is for a later trip!
