Champagne country B&Bs web site? Recommendations? Your help, please!

We're looking for a one-nighter (3 people) in late August, preferably around Epernay area. We've found several interesting places on the net, but I have a feeling there's a "mother lode" of Champagne B&Bs on one site, and I'm not finding it.

So far, we've submitted 2 inquiries to attractive, affordable places...and both said no availabilities. I suspect a 1-night Friday stay for U.S. tourists is not as attractive to them in late August as people from the wine trade would be. Any ideas?

I don't know if there is a mother lode of such info or not; I've been a "regular" on this site for quite a while, and I don't recall hearing of any such thing (a "venere.com" for France, in other words)

And forgive me if this simply repeats what you already looked into, but I did the exact same thing you tried, and these twoo possibilities look interesting. Not based on personal experience, obviously.

http://www.bed-breakfast-france.com/#/vacations/france/b&b/NE

and

http://www.innsite.com/inns/A005394.html

Oddly, this second one quotes a price in the unheard-of units of:

"XAU300 - 400 (Gold Ounces (New York))"

but if you follow this link that they provide - - www.marneweb.com/bnb/&refCode=A005394 you get to a table that says

Couple, 1 night 68

Hope this helps you in your search.

Best wishes,

Rex
[email protected]
Thanx, Rex. Yeah, that's the same sort of spotty here-and-there stuff I've been finding. We had very high hopes for the guest rooms at the Tarlant winery (for example), but they said no-can-do.

Anyone else?

I booked a B and B near Fismes ( approx 25 km from Rheims towards Soissons) from www.stopoverconnections.com . They have an interactive map on their website. Every place we booked through them worked out well.
The farm near Rheims was our favourite, they had great food!
It was a good location, but we had a car.

You're welcome - - I hope you'll come back here and share once you do find something and make a choice. The living repository here may be as good a "mother lode" as one can find.
Mr.G (aka Bob Jr.): Karen Brown may have something in that area (www.karenbrown.com). We've had good luck with gites. Try http://www.gites-de-france.fr/eng/ Or, there's a British book, and maybe a website, by Sawaday (this may not be the exact spelling) that lists a zillion B&Bs in France. Let us know what you come up with.

Found it on the Amazon site, MrGo. It's Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay: French Bed & Breakfast. Go to the Amazon site and type in Sawday, and it'll come up. A good reference.
