Chalon-sur-Saone Hotel

Does anyone know of a nice hotel NEAR the river. Need it for one night in early November. Thanks

I'm afraid that Chalon sur Saone is a rather industrial city... and as my map says... most of the factories/plants are located on the Saone river... and no hotel on sight...

That's what I found, too..there was one Hotel Syracuse that Google brought up near the river...but..after looking at it, 2 star, and very low prices..I don't think so!!!

Thanks for your help.....

You could try Tournus, another small town, located 28 km from Chalon.

Thanks, this is a night before joining a barge cruise, so need to be in Chalon.

Then you have the St Jean hotel (a 2 star one) I think, which is located on a square on Gambetta Quai. It is a former 19th century mansion, but the confort level is simple.

Is your barge company not arranging for your accomodations and meeting?

I have been there. The marina is huge and really rather lovely. Lots of comraderie amongst the boaters. AND a huge great grocery store at the top of the hill for EVERYTHING. To get ice tho, we went to the fish mongers in teh grocery, take plastic bags...and of course, get the ice before it goes on the fish! As to accommodations, you might look at a cute, clean little place in the old towne (easy walk to the marina) called Petit-Auberge.
November huh? I assume you're packing lots of layers? What barge company?

I'm not going on the cruise..it is the Viking River Cruises..really aluxury ship..not what I would describe as a barge!
I will pass on the info..thanks
