Not I but I'm impressed.

Maire May 2nd, 2006 03:09 PM

No, but I've seen them on the web before. I would sure try to see them if I happened to be where they are.

Is this website a branch of "the Onion"?

Those are the coolest things I have ever seen.

shandy May 2nd, 2006 03:56 PM

These are fantastic. I thought I had seen some good chalk drawings before but these win hands down.

What does this 'urban legend' site say about chalk art? I can't view it at work...
www.snopes.com/photos/arts/sidewalk.asp

I've read somewhere that some of these are cons; it's a print or photo laid down, then something over it that they 'chalk' on.

J62 May 2nd, 2006 05:01 PM

Snopes says they are genuine.

cigalechanta May 2nd, 2006 05:05 PM

We have a wonderful man here that I have sen around for years. He's now in a wheelchair after a fall but still strong at his art. He's called Samwalk Sam. He does famous paintings. I'll post if I find anything on google. We love him here in the Boston/Cambridge area.

In addition, Snopes says:

"Origins: These images do indeed represent some seriously brilliant work which should be admired in its proper context and with full credit to its creator.

The photos capture the work of Master Street Painter Kurt Wenner, a talented artist who creates 3D-like illustrations on street and sidewalks"
