chalet rental, Grindelwald

Hi,

It'd been over 10 years since we've been to Switzerland and we're looking to take our 5 year old next spring. Anyone know of websites I can check out for Grindelwald chalet rentals (self contained units with private patios, kitchens, etc.) I know there are literally dozens within walking distance of the town so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Weird, I've typed a message three times and it won't post. But "testing" it accepts. OK, here we try again.

Start with www.drawbridgetoeurope.com

This is a nice and honest company. I rented a place in Garmisch through them. On their website use Grindelwald as the Keyword and click Switzerland.
Their website is pretty complete, but if you then call them in the US, they will answer any other questions. Anything they don't know they will find out for you.

Thanks for the reply. I've checked that site before. It seems to have a few rental chalets featured. Anyone happen to know if the tourist office in Grindelwald still does rentals? We used to be able to secure a rental upon arrival, even in high summer season.

Hi cagey,

Here's a link to the Grindelwald tourist office's page for apartments.

http://www.grindelwald.com/summer-uk.php?frameset=49

They note that there are 950 apartments available!

However, I wouldn't wait until arrival -- you may not get a great apartment or a great deal.

You can also check with Interhome (www.interhome.com). Though I haven't rented from them, someone I trust rents from them regularly. They have a severe cancellation policy, so rent only at the last minute (you get a discount that way too).

Hope this helps.
