Cesky Krumlov without the castle

Hi!

I'll be going to Prague in November. I am interested in seeing Cesky Krumlov, but I understand that the castle isn't open in November. Is the town, without the castle, a worthwhile day trip - 2+ hours each way - from Prague? I am considering Kutna Hora, only an hour from Prague, as an alternative.

Thanks!

This exact same question was just asked on here fairly recently, probably for same reason. I'll bet it shouldn't be too hard to find it just by looking at the posts under Czech Republic if a search on krumlov doesn't work.

I say no, as did several others; I think at least one person thought it would be worthwhile. I really liked Kutna Hora and certainly would go there instead, myself, if you are choosing only one. Also, it is longer than 2 hrs travel to Cesky Krumlov.

Just returned from a week in Prague and drove down to Cesky Krumlov. It is charming, but it was a long drive and it doesn't take long to walk thru the town (we were there 1 1/2 hours). I would go to Kutna Hora.

Change the date of your trip and go to BOTH Cesky Krumlov and Kutna Hora. :)

Kutna Hora has some wonderful architecture, especially the cathedral, but Cesky Krumlov is an enchanting town. Totally impossible choice to make, but, for me only, I'd say Cesky Krumlov - even without the castle - by a hair.

If you are interested in silver, you might want to chose Kutna Hora because of its history and some of the lovely silver items you can still find there.

Have a great trip, no matter which town you choose, you cn't go wrong!
