Central Europe Triangle Pass

Hi, husband and I are going to Budapest, Prague, and Vienna. RailEurope offers a Central Europe Triangle Pass for three one-way rail trips between these three cities. The cost is USD 150 vs. USD 274 for point to point tickets. The Triangle Pass seems too good to be true, so what am I missing? Also, with rail passes, can we travel on any train going to/from Budapest/Prague/Vienna, or can we only travel on certain trains at certain times? Thanks for your words of wisdom.

Don't use Rail Europe to compare point-to-point tickets, they have a huge markup.

As train tickets in Hungary and the Czech Republic are very cheap I bet that normal tickets will be a lot cheaper if all you are doing is making trips between the three cities.

Unfortunately the Hungarian railways website doesn't allow non-Hungarians to buy tickets in advance, but you can use the Czech and Austrian Railways website to check times and fares.
