I want to go here, and am alone, I am wondering if this area is safe as it is a new area to me. I think that there is a bit of a walk after leaving the nearest metro. Thought or assistance? Rosie

Yes safe and bit of a walk.

sure, it would be safe enough in day time, I guess, I personally wouldn't walk around Porte de Clichy at night (or probably ever), especially around the train station. In Asnieres, there are better and worse areas, and large social housing projects but I think the bad areas are more in an area north of where that metro stop and cemetery are (like Gennevilliers). I'd probably go to Gabriel Peri metro stop in Asnieres (which I think is closer than the one at Marie de Clichy, anyway) which is only about 800 m for that place, and you wouldn't have to cross the river that way, either, on a major highway.

You can take bus 54 there, you know, I would do that rather than the metro. You cna get on at Gare du Nord and various places along that E-W route. HEre is the map

It has a stop at place Voltaire, it appears, before the Gabriel Peri metro and that would be even closer to the cemetery. It would be nicer to do the sightseeing along the way, also, I think.

chats too and other beloved pets in there - most famous to Americans no doubt RinTintin - a stray who in WW1 befriended an American GI who took him back to LA where doggie became a film sensation - repatriated to France when died.

It's a perfectly safe walk from the metro station -- just keep going straight ahead until you cross the bridge over the Seine.

It's a brisk walk from the nearest Metro Station but certainly as safe as the rest of Paris. The small cemetery is on the bank of the river, which you cross on a busy bridge. As in human cemeteries, some of the pets are buried with their favorite objects, which explains why a tennis ball is preserved in one tog's memorial. You will search out Rin Tin Tin's grave of course -- yes, the "Dog who saved Holllywood", or at least Warner Brothers -- was French.
