Cell phones in Ireland

We will be in Ireland in June and I am looking for ideas regarding cell phone use. Should we bring our iPhones, to use? Or get something once we arrive? Thank you.

You don't state country of origin, type of IPhone -- CDMA or GSM, if phones are locked or unlocked, or duration of your visit, so it's hard to give a DEFINITIVE answer, but . . .

GENERALLY speaking, you can buy a basic phone from MOST suppliers (O2, Meteor, 3, Vodaphone or Tesco)for 15-20 Euro (and up). Most also offer a FREE SIM card, if you buy a 10 Euro 'Top Up'.
Tesco offers 'Double minutes', as well as really low rates to phone North America ( on the order of 2 cents per minute).
