Cell phone within Paris

I am traveling to paris with my daughter. What is the best way to comunicate with each other if we get separated while there for a month?. It looks like maybe disposable cell phones purchased in Paris? Does anyone have experience or know of a good company for this?

There are hundreds of threads here on Fodors about cellphones in Paris and about daytrips. Use the search box at the top right of your screen and you'll have enough information to keep you busy reading for hours/days.

Hi Beautiful,

We will be using the free Lebara French SIM card, which offers very low rates - free for incoming calls and texts, mere pennies for international and local calls. You pay as you go and can top off online.

You can order ahead of time (and also find out your phone number before your trip) by activating online, using the link below. The site says you need a French address, but you can put in a U.S. address and the SIM card will be delivered within 2 weeks.

You will need unlocked GSM phones. If you don't already own GSM phones, they are readily available on Amazon and ebay. We always use old unlocked blackberrys w/international SIM cards.

Good luck!
