Cell Phone in Croatia

I've read everything I can get my hands on about Cell Phones and I think I finally understand about unlocked and Sim Cards, etc. I really only want the phone to contact our accomodations to let them know of a delay or if our plans somehow get changed. What do you all think? We will be going through Slovenia, Italy, but mainly Croatia. Do I need a Sim card for every country we transit? I'm sorry to post but it was easier giving childbirth.

No. If you have a sim card for Slovenia, you canīt call out but you can SMS (text message) which is jsut as good...as long as you have the cell numbers of the accomodations.

There was a recent thread about this on tripadvisor recently, on the Croatia forum, which may help. Here's the link...

You can also get an international sim, one that allows you to call from several countries. A number of the most widely used international sims are listed at
http://www.prepaidgsm.net/en/international.html.
I would recommend buying one of these if you're going to Europe again in a few years or if you want your phone number in advance or if you don't want to spend your vacation time looking for Slovenian sim.
