Cell phone in Bosnia

Hello European cell phone experts,
My daughter will be working in Mostar,Bosnia this summer and I want to buy her a cell phone. Does anyone know if Telestial's $99 Siemens a70 works well there? Also, will she be able to buy sim cards in Mostar? She'll be using the phone mostly for brief calls to the USA,within Bosnia and to have for emergencies.
Thanks for your help.

Bosnia uses GSM technology. Check this website for information on the various wireless operators and their plans. http://www.prepaidgsm.net/en/bosnia.html

Personally I would buy an unlocked European phone (it needs to have the 900 Mhz frequency for Bosnia) on EBAY and get a SIM card from one of the operators listed on this site.

On our recent trip to Europe, two in our group bought new Nokia 6150 phones on eBay for less than $20 and that included a charger with European plug. These dual band (900/1800) phones seemed to work better as far as clarity of voice and strength of signal than those that were using the quad band phones.

Thanks Jeff.

In what countries did you use the phone? carolw

We most recently used them in France but they will work anywhere in Europe.

This is great info for me also. I am going to Romania in May. My boyfriend will be there a week before me, how can we keep in touch while I am still here in the US and after I arrive Bucharest.
