CDG what to expect

I've been reading a number of posts with stories of difficulties at CDG,We are flying AF into CDG from SFO and have a 70min for a connection to AMS. What should we expect at CDG
Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you worried about a tight connection? Or are you wondering what procedures you'll go through after landing?

You can expect to have to hurry a bit. You have to go through a passport check and security if you change terminals, which is almost a certainty. If you're going from, say, 2A to 2C, it's a relatively short walk, but some connections require a bus. While many people on this board will tell you that 70 minutes isn't enough time, I did a connection in May and made it comfortably. Of course, 90 minutes or more would be preferable just in case something happens. It all depends on whether your flight arrives on time, and there's not much you can do about that.

We've also got a connecting flight at CDG on AF from Italy to home. Ours is just 55 minutes total connection time. From what I read I won't be surprised if we don't make our flight unless the AF agents hold up the plane. I know they have done this on a couple of flights we had in the past. Worse case situation for us I guess we'll have a day in Paris (not too bad) and our luggage (if sent to the right destination) will arrive before us.

There are plenty of flights CDG-AMS on both AF and KL that they can put you on if you miss yours. Don't worry too much.

Your flight from SFO arrives 2E, which often requires a bus to get you to the terminal. That alone eats up a portion of your connection time. You go through passport control as if you're just going France. Walk straight across to 2F, clear security and look for your gate.

Joining this forum is the best thing I think a person can do when planning a trip you all have been very helpful.
I was mostly concerned about our luggage making the connection as I thought we would likely make it. And as posted if we don't make the connection there are other flights .
Thanks

Good luck. I think you have a fighting chance to make your flight, but it just depends on the airport that day.

We had a 70 minute connection time coming back from Marseille through CDG...it was VERY HAIRY(to say the least, it was the worse experience ever in an airport), and we thought for sure our luggage would not made it back with us, but voila, there it was in FLL airport! Next time, I want a longer layover!
