CDG Transfer within same terminal

Well,
After reading all of the stories about the CDG Airport. I now have a new question concerning transfers. We will be arriving CDG from FCO, Terminal 2 F on Alitalia. We have a connecting flight on Air France(City Jet) which also leaves from Terminal 2 F, one hour later. Will we have to go thru Customs/Immigration, or security, as we are not actually making an official entry into France? Has anyone been this route before and what can we expect? Thanks

- For an international flight, flights leave from Terminals 2A, 2B, 2C, 2E or 2F:
- Take the Air France (air side) shuttle located near the transfer desk.

- For a flight within France or the Schengen Area, flights leave from Terminals 2D or 2F:
- Go through Customs and Immigration and into the public area,
- Follow the "Correspondance Transfer" signs.

Is this different if bags are not ticketed thro & you have to collect bags at CDG ...

FCO and CDG are both in the Schengen zone, so there are no customs or immigration formalities. If you are taking City Jet, I suppose it is to the UK, so you will go through customs and immigration upon arrival there.

I don't know how often the airport shuttles run so don't know how efficient they are to get from one terminal to the next. We have always either walked it or did a combination of walking and running to connect from one terminal to the other.

Francophile, what is it in the heading "transfer within same terminal" that you don't understand?

Sorry kerouac and thank you very much for pointing out that glaring error of mine. I was referring to connecting from 2D to 2E.

Kerouac, I'm afraid, is confused.

colinc's question referred to bags that AREN'T through-checked. In principle if that's the case, you have to come through immigration, collect the bags, go to landside checkin (there's no Customs, since you've arrived from an EU port), go throgh security and passport control again, then go to your gate.

BUT:

Some user-friendly airports (not a category CDG is usually put into, but I've always found its staff go out of their way to be helpful) will reroute your bags without all this faffing about if you go to the airside transfer desk and ask nicely: you can usually check in here as well as long as hte connection isn't with a low cost or charter. And I've certainy checked in for connections with non-partner airlines at CDG airside transfer desk.

Problem is, I don't know how helpful CDG is about this these days. I've recently had bags that weren't through-checked rerouted this way at Schiphol and Singapore, but it's years since I needed to do it at CDG.

Unless someone comes on with hard experince of being in colinc's position in the past year or two, colinc needs to hope for the best, plan for the worst and use all his charm on the clerk at the first airport to through-check the bag.

Alitalia and Air France/City Jet are both members of the Skyteam alliance. Why wouldn't the bags be checked through?

You will have to go through security, collect your bags, go through Immigration, go through security again.

We have <b>no idea</b> what airline(s) colinc57 is flying . . .

Call your airline and ask what their policy is about over-selling flights. Definitely find out IF YOUR FLIGHT is already over-sold. If so, you probably don't stand a chance of making the flight. Arriving 1 hour early will land you in the standby group. People arrive 3 hours early for flights. If oversold, it become a first-come, first-serve process.

Mea culpa... I finally saw the little intervention that proves that I have sh*t in my eyes. But since there are no details of which airline to which airline and how much connecting time, the question is meaningless.

yes I did add to this thread... as I thought it was revelant ( on many forums you are told off for not adding similiar queries to an existing thread)

Just to fill in any gaps its
BA BHX -CDG (assume Term B)
AA CDG -MIA (assume Term A)

2 1/2 hours -- no problem since the first one is a European flight, albeit not Schengen. AA, the &quot;Robert Reid&quot; airline, will be a hassle no matter what.
There is a connecting tunnel from the A-C to the B-D side of terminal 2. Don't wait for the shuttle.
