CDG to Paris - Group of 10
 

Hello! I will be traveling to Paris this month with a group of 10 from the U.S. I am trying to determine the least expensive and least stressful way to get us all from CDG to our hotel near the Arc de Triomphe. I think I have narrowed it down to the RER or Roissybus. Any opinions on which would be better, or another option? My daughter and I have experience with the Paris transportation system but the other eight will be Paris first-timers. My main concern is luggage slowing us down and getting us separated. I believe we will have to take the final leg on the Metro. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think both of your options, RER and Roissybus, are more expensive and more hassle than just taking a taxi from the CDG taxi rank. https://www.parisaeroport.fr/en/pass...paris-cdg-taxi You can choose to take two van taxis with seating for 7.each. The price is same as the sedan taxis. If a van is not at the head of the queue, you just let others go until you get to a van taxi. Split 5 to 5 or whatever is makes sense depending on how heavy travelers you are with. There are legitimate surcharge for passengers above 4, but even so, it would be still cheaper than RER or Roissybus for that many people. The luggage area at the back of the van would unlikely hold luggage for 5 especially first-timers who tend to travel heavy. But van taxi has a empty space between two facing bench seats. If you can find just one van taxi, perhaps put 6 into a van and the other group of 4 just taxi a sedan taxi.

Thank you so much, Greg! Splitting into two groups for taxis is an option that hadn't occurred to me. I was trapped in the mindset of trying to keep everyone together from the airport to the hotel! The fact that taxis would take us directly to the hotel is a HUGE bonus. I was dreading that final leg on the Metro, with luggage. Fantastic! I looked at the links you sent and the price is great. We will do as you suggested and wait in the queue for what fits out need. Thanks again for the great advice!

I would not attempt to prebook a taxi from CDG. Costs would be unknown. Greg´s idea of a taxivan taking 6 and a regular taxi taking 4 is an excellent solution.

Do not accept offers from clandestine drivers soliciting from within the terminals. Proceed directly to the official taxi queues. Any line there moves quickly.

Also, taxis now charge a fixed rate from airports into town. if you're traveling from the Charles de Gaulle airport, it costs €55 for a trip heading anywhere on the Left Bank and €50 for anywhere on the Right Bank. For folks coming in from Orly, it costs €30 for the Left Bank and €35 for the Right Bank. There is a charge for supplementary passengers once the number goes above four of €4 per extra passenger.

Actually every time I go to the taxi line lately there is generally someone there asking how many people are in your party. So if all 10 of you show up as a group they will probably just wave the right kind of cabs over to you. And Sarastro is right, Do NOT accept offers from clandestine drivers soliciting from within the terminals. They are almost always there when you leave baggage claim waiting for likely "victims".

Yes, split into two taxi vans from the airport. Write down the full name and full address of the hotel on two slips of paper so that each driver has this information.

I don't know what you mean about looking at "the reserved taxis". Taxi rates are regulated. IN fact, by reserving one you'll probably pay more because I think there is a reservation fee which you won't pay by getting one at the Taxi stand just by walking up at CDG.

I've never been at any airport anywhere where it wasn't easy to get a taxi at the capital city's major airport.
