CDG to Nice
Hi all, I am finalising plans for our trip and need some input. I have already booked FF miles on Air Canada and we arrive at 10am at CDG. There is an AF flight to Nice at 1.20pm. I have not booked this as yet as we are unsure if we should fly or train to Nice that day. My understanding is that being 2 separate tickets and carriers we will have to pick up bags and redo, checkin, customs etc and I am expecting the worst based on accounts of CDG. So , any suggestions, book this flight or train. Thanks.

I believe you can take the TGV to Nice directly from CDG, but it's a long trip. I think I remember 6 hours with a change at Marseille, when I considered it myself.
It could be a real time-saver to fly. J |
You don't have to pick up bags if AC in Canada will tag the bags to NCE for you. May take them a few minutes to confirm, and may require assistance from a supervisor, but it's possible.

According to the CDG Web site, Air Canada flies into Terminal 2. Air France flies from Terminal 2 to Nice. The TGV station is also at Terminal 2.
If you decide to take the train, here are your choices: Leave CDG TGV at 11:40 and arrive at Nice Ville at 18:06 (direct TGV). If you arrive on time, you have a good chance of making this connection; but you may well decide not to cut it that close. Take the RER or the Air France bus from CDG to Gare de Lyon (about one hour). Leave Gare de Lyon at 13:50 and arrive at Nice Ville at 19:15 (direct TGV). You could also go CDG-Lyon-Nice or CDG-Marseille-Nice, but you would arrive even later. |
Hi D,
With 3:20 hr, you should be able to make the connection. ((I)) |
Thanks for the info. We did book the 1.20 flight so hopefully all goes well.
