CDG to Chantilly without a car?
I am arriving at CDG a day earlier then originally planned. While in Paris I was going to day trip to Chantilly. My plan now is to overnight in Chantilly going directly from CDG. Can I take a train without going to Gare du Nord? Is a taxi my best option?

Hi jackson,
The German rail site says that you have to take the RER to Gare du Nord. |
jacksonjr,
Public transportation does not appear to be a good option for this journey - as Ira mentions, you would indeed have to backtrack all the way to Gare du Nord. Perhaps your hotel in Chantilly can arrange a private shuttle service that would be cheaper than a taxi. Hope this helps, Andre |
Ira and Andre thank you for your response. If I have to backtrack to travel by train I would probably spend the extra night in Paris and day trip as originally planned. I will check to see if my hotel can provide a shuttle if not I will bite the bullet and take a taxi.

Your hotel may be able to "provide a shuttle" but when someone else mentioned that arrangement it was at quite a premium. You can arrange your own shuttle or you can take the RER into Paris and then get a taxi from the station. Or the Air France and Roissy buses into Paris and taxi from their stops.

Gretchen thank You for your reply. I was looking for a way to get to Chantilly from CDG without going into Paris. Chantilly is in the opposite direction from Paris.

The CDG shuttle is on the RER network, and Chantilly station is an SNCF stop. Maybe you can take a bus from the airport over to a nearby mainline station.

The following stations are between Gare du Nord and Chantilly-Gouvieux:
Garges Villiers-le-Bel-Gonesse Goussainville Les Noues Louvres Survilliers Fosses La Borne Blanche Orry-la-Ville-Coye Goussainville appears to be about 8km from CDG. A taxi should get you there for a few €. |
Well done, Robespierre. ((y))

Robespierre thank you for your reply. That is what I was looking for a taxi and train will work great.
thanks all for replies Jackson |
Again, congrats, Robespierre. Now, Jackson, you will have to "negotiate" with the taxi driver, because they are not very happy not to go to Paris and to remain within the "banlieue" (suburbs). But be aware that they cannot legally refuse a ride provided... you are not drunk (which we assume you won't be! ). So you should approach the taxi steward at the end of the cab line at tell him you want to go to either Goussainville or Louvres (a little flexibility won't harm, and all these stations are fairly close to each other and to Roissy anyway), he has got to find you a cab.
