CDG - Taxi fare
 

Would be interested in knowing the cost of a taxi fare (including 2 suitcases)from Roissy-CDG T3 to Porte-de-Pantin/La Villette and the travel time on a monday morming.

Well, I am used to taking a cab from CDG to the 20th (place Gambetta), and it's never more than 40 euros, luggage and tip included. Since La Villette is closer, I would bet on approximately the same amount at most. As for the time, it should be closer to 30-40 mn than an hour. Be careful: for some reason, taxis are rather thin on the ground in T3. They must assume that since it is a "low cost" terminal, people are too broke to afford a cab or something!

Ask first to get an idea, and for some reason it comes out about what they say. There MIGHT a little charge per suitcase if the driver handles them.(maybe 5 euro each????)

I take taxis but I do NOT consider 5 Euros per bag a "little" charge!!!!

I wouldn't consider 5 euro each a little charge also, but that isn't what it is in Paris -- it's .90 euro per bag extra.

I agree with Art on the fare and time, it is less than to central Paris, of course (which is what Ira is quoting, I believe).

Ooops! Yes...the 40 to 50 euro is about right,,,but I was WAY off in the "5 euro per bag"(just didn't think that one through as it was written in quickly) ,,,more like 1 to 2 euro I imagine, Last Oct. we paid 40 e, then the driver charged an extra something for two 24" suitcases and 2 carryons.
The .90 E. seems like an odd number, Christina, and I doubt that is right at this time!!!

But who really cares anyway...we are both close enough. :)

mari5, Christina is right, .90 euros is the correct fee per bag.

PICKING UP OF LUGGAGE AND BULKY ITEMS: 0.90 € per unit. Luggage usually means any bag or parcel weighing 5 kgs or more, skis, bicycles, baby carriages, small piece of furniture, pictures, etc...

.90 is STILL a very odd figure and "come on", anyone (including the Parisians) would round it off to 1 Euro.
(AND factor in the possible 10% tip)

I just got back from Paris a few days ago.When traveling alone (99% of the time), I ALWAYS take the RER into town, but there were three people, who were first timers mostly, with me this time who insisted on taking a taxi. It was a Sunday, less traffic, and the fare from Charles de Gaulle to the 6th...one block south of Blvd. St. Germain and between rue de Seine and rue Mabillon was over 67 Euros... $93.80. I nearly had a heart attack.It would have been around 9 Euros on the RER. Happy Travels!

Sunday is the higest fare rate all day, fare C outside the city and fare B inside the city. It is the most expensive day of the week to take a taxi. I also check to make sure they dont "forget" to switch the fare when they get to the city. I have never caught a driver doing it to me but i have seen it from time to time in the city.

As for the "cheapskates" exiting from T3 - talk about profiling! We prefer to pay less on plane fare and have more to spend while touring. Let's hope the Parisian taxi drivers appreciate this.
