CDG onnection; same ticket
This fall we will be arriving at CDG from the US on Delta and departing to Casablanca 2 hours later, on Air France, all on the same ticket (if that's the itinerary we book through Delta). If the trip was tomorrow, it looks like both flights would be at terminal 2E--would I be correct in assuming that would be simply a walk from one gate to another? The CDG website says all Delta Flights use terminal 2E and Air France can be sub-terminals 2E, F or G. It also says allow 60 minutes if in the same terminal (eg terminal 2). Is this reliable advice?
Thanks for any advice. |
It's not quite as simple as just strolling from one gate to the next since just like in every airport, arrivals follow a path elsewhere, generally one level down for people to go through immigration, etc. But all you have to do is follow the transit signs to get to the correct place.

Unless your arrival is greatly delayed you should be OK, but even if there's a snafu since you are on one ticket if you miss the connection due to a delay you will just be put on the next available flight.

There is nothing simple about a connection at CDG.It might look like one terminal and one place but it is a labyrinth. Just follows the signs to transfer.
Have transferred several times at CDG, as long as you have time it will be fine and if not, AF will rebook the connection on the next available. |
Read this EasyCDG page below to have an idea on what is involved if you are transferring at a different gate (K, L or M) within 2E, or have to go to 2F or 2G:

Question ... don't U.S. citizens have to go through customs at the first airport where they land in Schengen countries? Therefore, customs/passport control then onto your next gate?

No, it's a North African country. I am asking for my own travel.
It is usually better to start a new thread of one's own, especially when their question is different than the OP. BUT, to answer your question . . . When arriving in a Schengen country and transferring to another Schengen country (on the same ticket) they go through Border Control (Immigration/passport control) at the first airport, and Customs (that is the luggage bits) at the final destination. You would not see your checked luggage until the final Schengen destination. |
Thank you JanisJ!

From non-Schengen (US) to non-Schengen (Morocco) you go through a security screening but not passport control:

JJ offers good advice, as usual. One other point: There will probably be a security check for your hand luggage before boarding the second aircraft. It could be at the departure lounge or a nearby central security.
