CDG & RER - station names?
 

Hello...

Having been to Paris via CDG before, I I use RER B, the Aeroport Charles De Gaulle 2-TGV station (end of the line), and the shuttle to get to/from terminal 1 (US Air).

Can someone please tell me what the preceeding station is? On the RER map, it's listed as Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 1, with a CDG1-3 icon. The station I use has a CDG2 icon.

This makes no sense to a foreigner like me. For my own peace of mind, can someone explain this method of naming stations?

not to answer your question because i'm not sure but there is a new VAL people mover that wisks you from terminal 1 to the RER station in terminal 2 (CDG-2 i believe) replacing the old navettes or shuttle buses.

Why doesn't it make sense?

From Paris, the first stop is CDG1, for Terminals 1 and 3. The last stop is CDG2.

If you were going to Terminal 1 for USAirways, you should have gotten off at CDG1, and taken the shorter and faster shuttle from there.

Anyways, the CDGVAL train has replaced the shuttle buses. Still for Terminal 1, you should have gotten off at CDG1. Why do think you should have gotten off at CDG2 for Terminal 1?

I landed at T1 last november and took the shuttle to Roissypole 3, and then the RER to the city. The T2 RER stop was for terminal 2, TGV station,etc...

It used to just be CDG 1. I think you are confused because you think that number is the RER stop, and it's really a reference to the terminal number. You weren't expecting a CDG 1-3 stop before a stop 2.

However, CDG airport is set up so that terminal 1 and 3 are sort of next to each other and terminal 2 is off by itself some distance away.

Is it because it's been 5 yrs since I was there?

Or is it because the non-stop trains don't stop at the CDG1-3 station?

I still see recent posts (including here) instructing people who land at Terminal 1 to go to Terminal 2 to get the RER. (I thought I was supposed to take exit 22 to the departure level and then take the RER/Terminal 3/Roissypole bus and get off at the 1st stop.)

Is there a difinitive way to get to the non-stop-to-Gare-du-Nord train from US Airways arrivals in Terminal 1?

A step-by-step list of directions would be much appreciated. We're leaving the USA in less than 2 weeks.

From Terminal 1, you take the new CDGVAL train to the CDG1/3/Roissypole or whatever other name they can put on that stop. Switch to RER. You don't go to CDG2.

I have not read anybody telling people to go from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 to ride the RER. Only to ride the TGV there.

All RER trains stop at the CDG-1 station and terminate (or start) at the CDG-2 station.

There are no nonstops to or from Paris that skip CDG-1.
