CDG-Alsace-Burgundy-Brittany-Paris
Hi All,
Reality-testing an itinerary that starts from CDG (get a Passe Sanitaire) then to Alsace. Problem: Strasbourg trains conflict with our CDG arrival + vax pass. Are there other cities to train into Alsace (get a rental car)? From Alsace we drive to Burgundy: 5 nights there. Then on to Brittany: Can we get to Brittany from Burgundy without going back to Paris-doesn't look possible by train. Willing to fly or drive (if not too long). We will stay in Brittany for another 5 days, then off to Paris until we leave on 6.17. What's the most direct way to Paris from Brittany, which city? This is a big ask but so much appreciate your advice. We've been searching trains/driving distance/flights, but not too productive bc we don't know the best place to arrive/depart in Brittany or Alsace. Thank you so much! |
If you are unhappy with the trains to Alsace from CDG, just take the RER to Paris and a train to Alsace out of Gare de l'Est. There are a lot more of them. Problem solved.

The RER stops in the Gare du Nord which is a 15 minute walk from the Gare de l'Est which is the departing station for trains to Strasbourg.

It's perfectly possible to go by train from Burgundy to Brittany without passing through Paris. But it takes about 5hrs longer. For example:
Dijon dp 7.12 - Rennes ar 16.00, change at Nevers, Tours and Angers Dijon dp 12.12 - Rennes ar 21.23, change at Nevers, St-Pierre and Nantes. Lyon dp 11.59 - Rennes ar 21.23, change at St-Pierre and Nantes |
