I can't help you with your photography question- I don't carry a camera! I usually have the good fortune of traveling with companions who love their cameras so I never have to worry about the details. I'm 99% sure that flash photography is not permitted at the Louvre, L'Orangerie or D'Orsay. Someone else will know the answer.

Yes, for a three day stay the weekly pass is not your best option. Neither is the much hawked Paris Visite pass. Just go to the window at a metro station and ask for a carnet ("oon car-nay seal voo play") which will get you ten tickets at a slightly reduced price. You will use one ticket apiece for each trip on the metro, connections included. Put the ticket in the slot on the turnstile, and be sure to retrieve it and hang on to it until you finish your ride. It is not exactly common but metro police sometimes ask to see your stamped ticket and if you cannot produce it you are subject to a fine.
Non flash photography is usually permitted in the museums you plan to visit.

I agree with advice to get a pack of ten metro tickets. Slightly picky but "carnet" is masculine so it is "un carnet" rather than "une carnet" to be pronounced "ang kahr-nay seel voo play". It won't matter though, they'll know what you want.

Thanks for all this great information - I too am traveling soon to Paris.

Thanks for the link to the credit card listing. I called Capital One and pretty instantly was given a no interest card (this was the company that listed as having no currency conversion fees)!

Amwosu,
I also wanted to thank you for the link concerning credit cards. I was able use it to determine which bank had the best fee/rate schedule and then to set up a new account. I got a no-fee debit card in less than 5 hours from application to having the card in my hand. It will allow me to use ATMs and make purchases with no currency conversion fees. Since my existing credit card charged as much as 6-7% in fees, your helping me make this discovery and getting a new debit card with only 3 business days left before we leave for Paris was a real positive.
