CCF SETTLEMENT

Did everyone who traveled to Europe between 2/1/1996 and 11/8/2006 file their CCF forms. This law suit was against 'credit card companies' that overcharged customers while in Europe. Final? decision is before the court. We filed for 251 days between the days in question. The final outcome should be very interesting. The credit card companies have agreed to pay customers 320 millon dollars after lawyers fees. ENJOY Iris

Do have a link you could post with more info about filing?

Isn't the ultimate payout in these class action suits about eleven dollars per person or some such amount?

adrienne Aug 21st, 2008 06:06 AM

zeppole - the last filing date was in May.

luvtotravel Aug 21st, 2008 06:15 AM

I sent in my papework. Will be interesting to see what happens.

luv2cthings Aug 21st, 2008 06:19 AM

Nope. Didn't bother.

zeppole Aug 21st, 2008 06:20 AM

Oh! Maybe I could have retired early and moved to Italy.

Oh wait -- I did! :)

Good luck with the payback.

So I filed - online - and haven't heard anything. Was just beginning to wonder. Should I have received some acknowledgment at least? If not a check already.

adrienne Aug 21st, 2008 06:53 AM

If the decision is still before the court as the OP states then you could not receive a check yet. I believe the claim number you're issued when you file is the acknowledgement.

Oh, you are not a lawyer involved in this settlement??? then don't expect "Easy Street".....lol Most of these consumer class actions are not worth the time and effort on your part.

We got $485 from a shareholders class action recently and have had others in the $600-700 range, IIRC. Not a lot but not to be sneezed at.

Always worth filing.

I did file and got some paper back but no money. Not counting on getting anything but miracles do happen. Had 4 trips in those years so could amount to a few dollars.

I did receive an email acknowledging my filing.

Over the years I've collected quite a bit of money, and merchandise, and a number of discounts from class action suits. Didn't make me rich, but it does add up.

I filed before the deadline, but didn't get anything back from them in acknowledgment. Should I contact them? I had 122 days in Europe over the dates specified.

eurogals Aug 22nd, 2008 12:27 PM

This is the first I have heard of this. I spent approximately 150 days in Europe during this timeframe. Am I now ineligible due to not filing before May 30th? Should I just forget it? Do I have any recourse?

longboatkey Aug 22nd, 2008 12:40 PM

I agree, remember the famous Chiron securities class action suit? That paid off very well recouping about 80% of the dip during the period in litigation. Whereas, consumer suits raise hope and maybe a few crumbs. Put a value on your time and effort.

We received a mailing on this law suit against credit card companies. We could have filed the enclosed form. However, we filed 'on line'. Took about five minutes. So, we shall see. Don't know why people didn't get a mailing. There were 30 million 'credit card customer' letters sent out. Iris

I received one and I sent it in no response after that but I understand that it is moving forward and the card holder aggreements settlement I think can be viewed as a very possive thing but there is no money attached to that one unless of course you are one of the lawsuit lawyers.

iris1745 Apr 12th, 2010 03:43 AM

Actually, the lawsuit I am talking about, there is about $325,000,000 set aside for consumers. Lawyers have their own kitty. However, there were over 10 million claims filed, so perhaps we get a 'small' payday.

I received confirmation ages ago. I thought this was a done deal with no results. Thanks for keeping this post alive.
