Caves and Caverns near Manchester?

Coronation Street - last night some of The Street people were in a seemingly vast cave complex that had to be near Manchester as they just did a short drive to it. There were walkways, an underground river and what appeared to be stalactites - anyone know where this may be?

curious and thanks

There's loads all round the Peak District - and I suspect many people, like me, can't remember which freezing cold collection of stalactites we were dragged round when the first bloke in the street to get a car wanted to show it off:

They've been famous for yonks. Hobbes (the Leviathan man) wrote a poem in Latin about them (de mirabilibus Pecci - on the wonders of the Peak) in the 17th century.

I believe it was Poole's cavern, see http://www.poolescavern.co.uk/
