Cavalaire sur Mer

Has anyone traveled to or stayed in Cavalaire sur Mer? I have checked out its website and it talks a lot about the casino - anyone have any personal experience with the town, beaches or restaurants? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have not been there but while scouting for my trip in the area I noticed this town. It's located in the bay on the underside of St Tropez and has the longest beach in the bay and seems geared more for families than its neighbor the new La Croix-Valmer. They mention a nearby La Mole, a tiny village of character with a two-tiered towered chateau where Antoine St. Exupéry spent much of his youth

Took our family/group of 9 teenagers there in 1998. A good family place. You might want to be aware though that although the Logis de France selection there - - Hotel Raymond, if I recall correctly - - has a "beach" symbol on its web listing, they are legally entitled to use this if the beach is less than a 2 km drive away. I would say it was over 1.5

For what it's worth, they did have a pleasant enough little pool, and a fantastic dinner on the patio, with the kind of "famous" Provencal <<sope de poisson" to die for.

We did enjoy the beach immensely. Dozens of private concessionaires, with lunch service, (open air) showers, a limited changing room and toilets, beach chairs (the big heavy wooden ones), paddle boats, etc.

I think that the one we went to was named "Trois Pins" (though I don't recall actually seeing any "Pines"!)

We dropped about 75 dollars (for 11 people), as I recall; everyone had a great lunch of sandwiches, salads, you name it - - they provided unlimited beach chairs and their paddle boat and generally treated us like we were "Diamond Jim".

Best wishes,

Rex

Thanks Rex! Our travel plans changed and we're staying in Cavalaire now instead of Bormes Les Mimosas - we're bringing the kids so it sounds like a good fit.
