Cava Visit Straight From the Airport

Hi all, we will be in Barcelona in mid-March, but we’re flying to Barcelona then straight to Dublin for St. Patrick’s, then back to Barcelona for another week. Anyways, the day we get into Barcelona airport we have about 8 hours before our flight to Dublin. I was thinking we could take advantage of that time and do something close to the airport, like visit a cava winery since it looks like there are some close by. Does anyone have a recommendation for one we could visit that day? We’re flexible in terms of activities, a short tour, tasting, tapas, etc all sound great. The other thing is that we’ll have our bags with us so we’re not sure what would be the easiest way to get there. Is there any form of public transport we could hop on, or would an Uber or taxi work? Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Cava and tapas

Flying straight into Doublin would make more sense, but that's only me. If you want to do a tour, you'll have to check the schedule to see what's open while you're hanging at the airport, and see if it fits into your schedule. You could simply head to one of the tapas bars in the airport, La Cerveseria, Dehesa Santa María or Lizarrán, or hang out in one of the VIP Lounges and avoid heading out to the Penedès (Enoturisme Penedès Visit the Penedès and enjoy the wine tourism, walks and culture of a unique region), possibly ending up missing your flight.

There is a left storage lin terminal T1 on the lowest level of the Plaza, and in the check-in lobby of terminal T2. The T1, open 24 hours, the T2, from 6.00 to 22.00.

You can leave your bags in the left luggage office that Robert posts about above, no need to lug them around. With your time frame I would just go into Barcelona and have some cava and tapas there. You can drop the bags, walk right out to the Airbus which takes you to Barcelona in 30 minutes and drops you at Plaza Catalunya among other stops. Alternatively you could hire a guide/driver for the day - they could pick you up, take you to a winery then perhaps lunch and back to the airport. If that does not sound good, it might be better to save the cava visit for a day when you do not have a flight to catch.

The tapas places in the airport are not terribly exciting. I definitely would not want to hang out in them for hours on end. If you do leave your luggage and have to change terminals, leave ample time for that.
