We can’t help with lodging in Catania, only used the airport there and passed through in cars/trains. We used to own a summer business and necessarily did much of our annual European travel in November. That included several trips to my grandfather’s homeland in Sicily. Everyone cautioned that November would be dreary, damp, wet, cold. Our own experience, and obviously that can vary, was that Sicily often gets an "Indian summer" in November, and we had pleasant warm weather, every time. Our son spent the second half of this past November in Sicily, and they were able to swim (but they are used to the Finger Lakes in new York), Yes, there is on average more rain than in summer but not much more than October when a lot of people visit. The good news is that we are some of the few who stayed and loved magnificent Taormina, not even so touristy awful during the day in November. We, and our son, have always found beautiful, inexpensive apartments on airbnb in Sicily. Why not consider that option?
